Periscope is one of the newest phone apps taking the mobile world by storm. Periscope is an app that phone users can use to record and stream videos live. The app is also attached to Twitter so that the recorder can tweet a link to their live stream. Many people are having fun getting their 15 minutes of fame, but will this lead to a new binge watching trend? So far, the binge watching trend revolves around pre-recorded shows. Is it time for a new way of streaming to take over?

Periscope could fast become a popular form of binge watching because people are free to update their account at any time using nothing more than their phones. Viewers can easily follow their favorite recorders through twitter. This could give Periscope addicts an unlimited amount of viewing material. Like most streaming services, you can stream Periscope through your phone and tablet. This means that you can watch Periscope streams almost anywhere there is WiFi.

Right now, it is too early to tell if Periscope will be the live-streaming version of Netflix or Hulu. Considering the impact it has made on social media since its launch in January 2015, it’s safe to say that Periscope is a social media tool that won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

If you have used Periscope, what do you like about the app experience the most? Are you a recorder or a viewer?
