If you missed this breakout hit last summer, then this is the perfect time to catch up on the mind-bending thriller Wayward Pines, about a town you’ve seen before. Season 2 of Wayward Pines is right around the corner and it looks better than ever. The first season, however, is so shocking and so different, that you’re going to be begging to see what happens next. Wayward Pines starts off with a Secret Service agent who travels to Wayward Pines, Idaho to search for two other agents who have gone missing. As Ethan’s investigation continues, he ends up getting more questions than answers. It doesn’t take long for Ethan to discover that he may never get out of Wayward Pines. When he discovers the towns most shocking secrets, he realizes that life for him will never be the same again.

The first season had an excellent A-list cast that included Toby Jones, Melissa Leo, Matt Dillon, Juliette Lewis and Terrance Howard. The acting is so great that from the moment you enter Wayward Pines, you get a sense of dread that something truly crazy is going on. You’ll never be able to guess what the town is trying to keep secret.

The first season is based on the “Wayward Pines” Trilogy. Pines, Wayward, and The Last Town are recounted in the shows first 10 episodes. As someone who read the book, I feel like Fox has done an excellent job at retelling the story. Many of the plot lines are the same as well as the characters. The ending of season 1 is different from the book because the season 1 left things very that they could return for a second season. Now that season 2 is back, there is a whole new cast and a whole new storyline. Season 2 will follow it’s own path because there are no more books for the story to be based on.

The new promos are very interesting and considering there is a fresh batch of great actors in season 2, I believe the story of Wayward Pines has an exciting new direction to go in. If you enjoy shows like Twin Peaks or American Horror Story, you’ll enjoy this show filled with the unusual. You can stream season 1 on Hulu. All 10 episodes are 45 minutes each.

Season 2 of Wayward Pines will begin on May 22nd at 9 pm EST on Fox.
