This sexy and serious legal drama never got the attention that How to Get Away With Murder did but, it is certainly just as hot! Damages follow cutthroat veteran attorney Patty as she makes it clear that she will do anything to win her cases. This is very unfortunate for Ellen who is a new attorney at Patty’s firm. Not only does Patty put Ellen under an amazing amount of pressure to win cases, she also gets her involved in a brutal murder. It seems like way too much drama for a new attorney to get in to, but that’s just the tip of what Patty is willing to do to come out on top.
Since this show premiered on FX, Damage’s writing never holds back. The dialogue is sharp and bold, while much of the content is very sexy and daring. In just one episode, it is easy to see that the plot twists always keep coming. There is not one moment for you to be bored with all the scheming and conniving that goes on in this show.
Glenn Close, who won an Emmy for her role, is absolutely amazing as seasoned lawyer Patty. Patty is willing to throw her family and friends under a bus in order to get what she wants and she doesn’t apologize for anything. She makes Annalise Keating look like a school mom. The first season of the show aired in 2007 but, the second season did not air until 2009. The series was also canceled from FX but, was later renewed by DirecTV. Sadly, the show ended in 2012 without a proper series finale and it left dedicated fans of the show bewildered about what happened to their favorite shaky characters.
Don’t let this scare you off from giving this out-of-the-box legal drama a try. Damages aired for a total of 59 episodes that averaged 45 minutes each so, there’s plenty of trouble to watch Patty and Ellen get in to!
