Video streaming services are popping up left and right! One of the newest and more in-depth ones is Shomi! Shomi claims on their website that they are working hard to bring back the great feeling of having the old fashion video clerk help you pick out movies. Shomi does a great job in giving their customers a personalized streaming experience. For example, they do have a section just for children movies that are split into different children’s age range. From tots to tweens, Shomi knows exactly what children want. They even include movies that the entire family can watch together.
The best part of the Shomi streaming service is that they create binge watching collections. This is perfect for when you’re in the mood to binge watch movies of a certain genre or theme. For example, they have a “Girl’s Night In” collection that’s perfect for when the ladies get together and just want to watch some fun girly movies. They even have an “Oscar Misses” collection which includes movies that should have been nominated or won the Oscar for best movie of the year. The collections even include introductions to the films by people in the movie industry that add to a richer, marathon experience.
Shomi can be streamed on up to two devices at a time for as little as $8.99 a month. For the large array of content it involves, this is a really great deal. The only downside is it can’t be streamed yet through Roku, a very popular streaming service. If you want to stream it on your TV, you must use a Chromecast plugin or stream it through your Xbox. Hopefully they will jump on the Roku bandwagon soon, but until then, you can easily stream all the content through your laptop, computer and most mobile devices.
