Warning: Light spoilers ahead if you haven’t finished the Marvel Netflix lineup.

Avengers, assemble! Not this time.

There’s a new squad in town, but they’re not as “chipper,” as the Avengers. Enter Netflix’s The Defenders, a new lineup of Marvel’s “outsider” based super-team. The Defenders is a Marvel show we’ve all been waiting for and you’re in for a treat if you’ve kept up.

Netflix’s team is a new Defenders lineup consisting of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. The Defenders picks up several months after the end of each series. Here’s a look at what we know so far and where the characters will be.

The 8-episode miniseries brings Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist together to take out a common threat. According to showrunner Marco Ramirez, the new villainess Alexandra “brings intellectual sophistication that matches like Daredevil’s Fisk.” While we don’t know much about her, Sigourney Weaver is sure to portray a maniacal, cunning villain who will give the Defenders trouble.

We all know that Daredevil left off on a dark note; one of the main characters is on the run, and the other is dead. This leaves our devilish protagonist in Hell’s Kitchen alone, without his friends or Nelson & Murdock. According to Charlie Cox, who portrays Matt Murdock, Daredevil is “doing the best with what he has.” With the world collapsing at Murdock’s feet, he has nowhere left to turn but help his new “friends” stop the evil in New York.

Private Investigator, Jessica Jones, has more luck than Murdock but has problems on her mind. After silencing Kilgrave things are more refreshing, but she picks up in work. Jones’ popularity spikes, to the point where she’s hunted down for work she doesn’t want to do. Not to mention she’s about to join a team with two guys she barely knows and one that she has a history with. Things are looking up and down for Jessica. She and Murdock are going to have a very on and off friendship, resulting in a “cat and mouse” dynamic.

Like Murdock, Luke Cage isn’t exactly in the best shape either. The last thing we saw was him being shipped off to Seagate for jailbreak. However, he won’t be there for long. “It’s safe to say Cage is not going to spend the entire season behind bars,” Mike Colter, who plays Luke Cage, told Entertainment Weekly. Luke is supposed to be the “peacemaker,” of The Defenders and will bring some light and positive balance to the group.

Daniel Rand (Iron Fist) is the only member whose show has yet to premiere, but there’s plenty in store for him. In his series, Iron Fist is going to discover himself and grow to be a powerful martial artist. Iron Fist takes place 15 years after the ill fate of Daniel’s parents; he was orphaned, raised, and trained by monks to become the warrior of fate. He then takes time to discover who he is and his powers.

In The Defenders, Danny shares a good relationship with Luke Cage, mirroring the comics. Who knows, maybe their friendship will hint at a “Heroes for Hire” or “Power Man and Iron Fist” spinoff.

While waiting for The Defenders, you can watch Iron Fist starting March 17 on Netflix. Although there’s no official release date, The Defenders will take on Alexandra in Mid 2017!
