It’s come to my attention that many binge watchers out there are not aware that you can subscribe to Amazon Prime now on a monthly basis. If you’re not into free, 2-day shipping or you don’t want to pay your whole subscription price up front, then this could be the best way for you to enjoy all that Amazon Prime’s streaming service has to offer. The subscription service costs just $8.99 which is about $1 cheaper than Netflix and $1 higher than Hulu if you’re keeping score.

If you think you’re saving money by signing up for the monthly subscription, you’re not. You’re actually paying $107.88 per year versus the $99 you’d pay up front if you bought all 12 months at one time. The monthly subscription is still a huge benefit for many, however, because you’re not locked into a service for an entire year. If you don’t like the service you can simply cancel at any time and not have to worry about wasting $99. If after the first year you like Amazon Prime, I would highly recommend signing on for a yearly Amazon Prime Subscription. You get free, 2-day shipping and countless deals on Amazon along with a streaming subscription that seems to be growing exponentially every month.

If you’re wondering how Amazon stacks up against Netflix or Hulu, I’d say Amazon Prime is a great service to have alongside one of these streaming services. Amazon Prime shows usually don’t hit until months after the season is over and their original program is not nearly as progressive as Netflix. Their movie selection, however, is becoming more and more impressive as they have been adding some very new award-winning films such as Room to their expanding catalog.

If you’re on the fence about whether Amazon Prime is good enough for you or not, for $8.99, I say give it a shot. The TV shows may not hook you right away, but you’re bound to find some great movies you can’t find on other streaming services. I’ve noticed that Hulu and Amazon Prime have some of the same movies so keep an eye out for that when deciding on whether to keep Amazon Prime or not. With all of the streaming services out there, it can be pretty hard to decide who has earned your money the most. Though $8.99 is not a bad price to discover yet another world of streaming.
